I'm a little behind on my posts! Here are several pictures from the last month in no particular order. Lucy is now 14 months old and Dane will be three next month. So hard to believe!!! Lucy is saying more words lately such as pretty, book, eyes, bye, and of course mama and dad. She's the tiniest peanut still weighing in around 16 and 1/2 pounds. It made me feel better when my mom checked my records when I was her size and found out I only weighed 15 and 1/4 when I was one. Dane is turing into my little game player. When Lucy takes naps we like to play Trouble, Memory, Puzzles and now a new Fishing game I just picked up for him. He is also inseparable from his daddy. He loves to do whatever Michael is doing (no matter how cold it is outside) and also dress exactly like him. They are too cute:) We are having a great time staying in with the cold weather! Ok, so I haven't been the greatest in keeping up with the family blog. I have no idea either if anyone out there is even reading it. I do like to go back and look at old posts and compare Lucy and Dane to see what they were doing at the same stage in life though so I'm going to try and get back to updating this every two weeks like I have been for the past year. Just an update since I don't tend to write very much anymore on this, Lucy turned 1 on October 7th and also started walking the day before her birthday! It happened so fast. One day is was 3 steps and the next was standing up after a fall and taking off from there. It has made things more challenging since she doesn't want to be held as much but would rather be put down to run with Dane. This is especially hard if we are in the grocery store or Walmart. She is saying mama and dad and Daaaa (Dane). She is also sleeping through the night which I am so thankful for.
My next challenge is Dane not napping as much anymore. I'll lay him down to nap and he'll lay there up to an hour and half and still not sleep. I'm hoping we can just continue the quiet time that we have already implemented so I can have a little down time as well. Most of the morning is spent inside playing games or doing things around the house. Dane is my little helper and loves doing whatever Michael and I are doing. This can range from cleaning toilets/loading the dishes/raking leaves and many other small jobs. He is such a nice boy. The afternoons are when we try and get out and run some energy off.
Michael continues to do well at work. His book of business is growing and he's happy with his job.He is still running everyday at least 2 miles just as he has been since January of 2008. I'm so proud of him and how hard he works for our family. He is completely dedicated and I am forever grateful for giving me the opportunity to stay home with Dane and Lucy. Trust me when I say I have my days though being a stay at home mom. It can be frazzling when Dane doesn't nap and around 4:30 you can see the tiredness in his eyes but I won't let him sleep because he'll be up till 12 that night. We just try and stay busy with activities he loves until it's bath time and reading stories in bed. Lucy can also be a bear when she can't explain what she wants or she's cutting new teeth and not feeling well. Many times over and over when I'm out with them, people will comment, "Enjoy every moment now because it will be gone quickly." At times I think how easy life would be after "this stage" or when they get a little older or are a little more independent. I read through a few devotional books a night and found something that I've been thinking about lately. Matthew 6:11 reads, "Give us today our daily bread." An example from the bible might have been when God rained down manna (bread) for the Israelites when they were in the the desert for forty years. They were instructed to only eat and gather the bread for that day as anything stashed away for the next day would spoil and be ruined. God was telling them to not obsess about tomorrow and worry about today. He would take care of them. This was their daily bread. Then I started thinking about my daily bread and it really opened my eyes because I do worry about what I've got planned for the week or how I'm going to make it through an hour trip of grocery shopping with both of them. Having one eye on tomorrow's worries meant I only had one eye on today. So I'm learning to enjoy these special moments at home with both of them even if it might be too cold to go outside or they're tired and cranky. I'm going to enjoy my manna today!

I can't believe summer is coming to a close. Wasn't May just here with rainy weather? I'm enjoying each day staying home with the kids. We have fun walking in the mornings, going to the library, feeding ducks, swimming at the city pool and in our backyard, having playdates with friends, visiting grandparents, and many many more fun activities. Lucy is 10 months old now and weighs a whopping 15.3 lbs! My little Daner is doing great. He's wanting to do everything by himself these days...getting his own food out of the fridge, dressing himself and hopping up in the car when we go places. He's quite the little singer as well. He loves singing Jesus Loves Me as well as Dirt Road Anthem (country song).
I couldn't be more proud of Michael. He's an amazing husband and father. He's been working so hard and has written some huge accounts lately in the Insurance business. I'm proud to call him my husband! God has surely blessed me in so many ways!

We had some really busy weekends lately with two special weddings. Michael's sister Paige got married on July 9th and my cousin Heather was married on the 15th. Both beautiful weddings! Kids are doing great. Lucy is 9 months and is crawling all over the place and pulling herself up on everything. She's also our little chatterbox. Dane is our spunky two year old boy. We've been doing a summer 6 week reading program that we are just finishing up this week. We read our 200 books this summer!! Michael is still doing his running streak and I watched as he headed out the door this week to 100 degrees on the thermometer...insane!! What can I say, the boy is committed!

We had a great Memorial Day weekend. On Thursday we went to Dayton to celebrate with the Deister family as Jake, our brother in law graduated from Wright State Medical School. We are so proud of him! The next three days we spent hanging out together. Whether we were caught inside with thunderstorms, taking walks while feeding the ducks, ordering pizza and watching movies and going to boat church, it was an awesome weekend to say the least! Lucy is 7 months old and has two teeth, is scooting everywhere and wants to stand whenever possible. She is still nursing and loves table food instead of her own baby food. I usually put her down around 8, wakes up twice in the night to eat and is up at 8 to watch Mickey with Dane. Life is good to say the least!

With a lot of sadness and a little bit of relief, a chapter in our lives has come to a surprising end. On Thursday of this past week, we had to make the tough decision of putting Lola our 2nd St. Bernard to sleep. Lola hit a perfect storm on Tuesday afternoon/evening. My girlfriend Brianne Miller and I took our kids for a walk on the Hospital trail. Tuesday happened to be one of our first truly hot and humid days that we are so blessed with in Indiana in both Spring & Summer. With a combination of getting very dehydrated, exhausted, old age (5 yrs old), a flare up of her past Kidney conditions, and possibly a small dose of heat stroke, Lola took a turn for the worse. By Thursday morning Michael and I realized that she wasn't going to rally back and get over her condition, and that her quality of life had become such that it was best that she pass. Michael took her to the vet, and our suspicions were confirmed. Michael left her with the vet for her final arrangements. Having kids truly changes the way we both look at things and different situations. Michael told me how he had made Dane say goodbye to Lola, and how Dane did it with the most carefree yet sincere way imaginable. He said goodbye, and within 2 seconds had already said hi to both of the other doggies that the Vet was boarding. Needless to say, we will miss our two St. Bernards, but are truly blessed to have two amazing kids that we can now spend more time with and do more fun activities with, and not have to worry about the responsbilities that go with having a big dog. They were where we started our lives together, our first babies and the start of a chapter together. That was the hardest part about losing them both within a year but then again, we gained a daughter!

This past week Michael had a meeting in Kalamazoo, Mi so we all decided to go along. The kids and I had fun swimming twice a day, going to the local museum and playing at the library while Michael was in his all day meetings. Something different for the week!
Dane is doing great with his potty training. He's only had one accident in the last few weeks and it was when I wasn't with him in his church class. At first he wouldn't go poop for two to three days at a time. I'm not sure if that was because he was nervous or what but now he just tells me he has to do it and runs to the bathroom. He's staying dry for his naps and most nights even. We've been very lucky!
Dane also had his first sleepover last week. His pal Viv spent the night. They were so cute when we turned off the light in their room and could hear them talking to each other.
Looking forward to warmer weather this week!

What an exciting week for us! We've gotten Dane down to 1 diaper a day...night time!!! Last Thursday as I was putting a diaper on him he insisted on his spiderman underpants. So we started from there. I brought the potty out in the living room and made him sit on a towel and play most of the afternoon. He had one accident the first day and hasn't peed his pants since. He even stays dry for his naps each day. Pooping is a little more challenging! It's been twice now but he's getting it!!! I tend to know when he has to go so we rush to the potty or he'll run to the bathroom while trying to pull down his pants. We've even ventured out to church, playdates, grocery shopping and other errands without a problem. I'm so proud of him! It's going to save us around $30 a month in diapers for him! Hope this isn't too good to be true:)

It's been awhile since I've posted pictures! Here are the most recent I have from Valentines Day weekend. Lucy is now 4 months old and doing well. She's a tiny thing but growing! She weighed 11lbs 12oz at her 4 month checkup and 25 inches long. She was in the 10th percentile for weight and 75th for height. Just like her brother, tall and skinny hopefully! She is still getting up in the middle of the night a few times to nurse but the other night she only got up once...maybe I'll get some sleep one of these nights!

Sweet Lucy 3 months old!

Our big birthday news besides turning two is that Dane broke his clavicle the day before his birthday! He is usually very good with stairs but happened to be standing on one of the last few before going down to our basement and missed a step tumbling down and landing on his shoulder. After taking him to the doctor we learned that he had broken the distal part of his clavicle. Luckily he does not need a brace or cast and within 3-4 weeks it should heel by itself! He's very tender there and doesn't want to use his arm too much but other than that he's doing well. Michael and I surprised him with a smaller version of a jump house in the basement. We were so excited that we ended up giving it to him a day early! I'm sure between our two monkeys and their friends it will get plenty of use!
Another wonderful year has gone by and our sweet boy is two! Michael and I are so proud of him. It's been quite a year watching him grow and learn different things. He's such a smart little boy and we're always amazed with how quick he picks things up. He's starting to say whole sentences now which is fun and is becoming our little singer around the house entertaining us with "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" and "Jesus Loves Me." He continues to love being in the cold weather with daddy shoveling snow and helping mommy make dinner at night. We are so blessed to have amazing children!

Lucy is going to be 2 months old on Tuesday...wow how time flies by! She is a wonderful baby. On average I'm only up once a night with her and she's eating well. Dane is starting to get excited for Christmas. He loves to look at the lights in the neighborhood while we walk Lola before bed and has his own little Christmas tree in his bedroom. Can't believe he's going to be 2 next month. So many great memories in just 2 short years!

We're hanging in there! It's getting easier each day too managing both of them. She's starting to get more of a rhythm at night with sleep waking up about twice a night to feed. Can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since I've updated this! Two has been a bit challenging at times but we're managing. So far she's been a pretty easy baby. It's mostly eating, sleeping and pooping! Some nights I see every hour of the night and others she let's me sleep 3-4 hours. The three of us manage to fit in an afternoon nap each day so that's helped greatly. So blessed to have 2 healthy babies!

She's here! Lucy was born 8:24 am on 10/7/10. She is doing absolutely wonderful at home! Eating, sleeping, pooping....and that's all but she's fun to watch! So far I've had an easy recovery after my surgery. I'm a little sore but that's expected. She gets up 2-3 times a night for feedings but goes right back to bed for me so I'm able to still get some rest. Thank you everyone for your prayers and congratulations!

Lucy died last night from issues she's been suffering the past few months. She was our first "baby" having gotten her a month after we got married over 4 years ago so I've taken it a bit hard. My sister and I wanted to get away for the day so we took a trip to Lafayette with Anderson, Alette and Dane to Monkey Joes. Can't believe we fit 3 different car seats in the back of her car and for the most part they were good! So much fun! Can't wait to take them back when they're a little older but it was fun letting them run around a gym with tons of blowup jumpies and other fun activites.
30 Weeks ...yeah! I shouldn't be wishing this pregnancy away but I'm starting to get uncomfortable sleeping at night and this wonderful heat of course doesn't help! Can't wait to see what this little girl looks like as well. She is much more active than Dane ever was. Less than 2 months!

29 weeeks

So this weekend was probably one of the worst weekends around here. Friday I woke up with some light cramping that progressively got worst throughout the day and finally moved to my back. After a long night up with terrible back pains and what turned out to be kidney stone attacks, Michael took me to Lognasport at 6 in the morning to the OB department where I stayed most of the day having IV fluid and pain medicine to help. I felt better by 5 at night so I went home. I'm still not feeling great and having pain in my kidneys but I'm not having the attacks that I had Saturday morning with vomiting and hurling over in pain. I also got to keep one of the stones that passed thanks to the strainer the nurses gave me! It was litterly tiny, like sand but sharp so I'm sure that's why it was hurting so much. Not sure if there is more or what but hoping this pain goes away soon. On Sunday night, Dane was in our kitchen and got knocked over by Lola only to fall back and hit his head on the register. Needless to say he split the back of his head open and probably needed a stitch or two but since it was in the hairline we nixed the idea and went with liquid bandaid. He's been pretty fussy since because he has a huge goose egg on the back where he would normally lay down to sleep so we've been fighting sleep for a few days. We sure could use a few prayers around here in the next few days!

Eighteen months has been a big month for Dane. A lot talking to say the least. Michael and I counted over 30 words he says daily. His favorite word by far is "ball." When he wakes up in the morning its the first thing he says.
He's learning to go poop in the potty...peeing is a different story since he goes every 10 minutes but he knows when he goes because he'll say potty and hold himself.
Today as usual we went outside to walk the dogs individually but Dane didn't want to sit in the stroller so he walked next to me while I walked Lucy. He insisted though that he hold the leash so I let him and he walked the 0.8 mile loop all by himself! It was pretty amazing because half the time he was running to keep up with her.
He sleeps in a big boy bed now as well. We didn't plan for it to happen so soon but he's been staying in the bed at night and I always read to him before he goes to sleep so I think he likes that since I can't lay next to him in his cirb;)
Michael had his bike worked on this week and also bought a bike seat for Dane to take him on night bike rides when the weather cools down. He tested it out tonight and seemed to like it!
Last, Dane had his 18 month checkup this week. He weighs 24 pounds (25% percentile for weight), 34 inches tall (95% percentile for height) and his head circumference is in the 95% percentile as well. So basically skinny and tall with a big head:)

23 Weeks

Dane continues to amaze us with how well he is saying or at least trying to say words. Like any little boy, he loves animals and can say most animal names or noises when asked. He's getting 4 new teeth (canines) in right now so there are times when he can be a bit fussy but other than that he's such a good little boy. We've been having a lot of fun going to the pool most days and exploring the parks. The pregnancy is still going very well. There are times when I'm exhausted by the end of the day though! This baby is quite a mover. It's been fun to watch all the pokes and movements while in the bathtub or laying down. Dane and I still walk the girls everyday in this hot weather. I have to keep moving and staying in shape if I want to keep up with Dane which is the whole goal for this summer.

We had fun playing in the baby pool. It was 2 feet deep so Dane was able to walk everywhere and play under the waterfall

He was such a good eater on the trip. We all had 3 great meals a day ....and maybe a few ice cream cones in between..

Wow! Not sure where to even start. Had a wonderful time on the Bahama Cruise this past week. Weather was hot and there were a few days that it rained on and off but it cooled us down and we also were able to nap a lot. Dane was perfect on the flights and bus ride to Miami. He slept most of the time and listened to my iPod when he was awake. We found out that traveling with a toddler can lead to some pretty nice benefits. We were able to go right through security at the airport and on the ship and all of the staff gushed over Dane. It was probably because they sign a year contract with the boat and most of them don't see their kids for the full year. We had two passengers come up to us and tell us he looks like the E Trade baby on the commercials as well! The food was great! We had 3 great meals a day and course any time we were hungry we could go get something or have it ordered in our room. One of the nights we were so tired we had room service just so we didn't have to get out of our pjs. On the other nights, we would either go to the buffet or sit down dinners with the 3 course meals. We ate really healthy for the most part. A lot of fish and fruit! One night we ordered the lobster tail and that was good as well. Dane had the most fun playing on the beach in Great Stirrup Cay Island. He would just dig and fill his bucket up in the water. So glad that we got a balcony with our room since they're a bit small but being able to go out in the mornings and evenings were well worth it. We loved sitting out there at night as well reading or doing Suduko puzzles. Overall it was a great experience for us and we would love to do another one some day in the future!
Five months or 20 weeks! Half way done. On the last morning we were laying in bed and I felt the baby moving around and Michael was able to feel it as well...pretty exciting!

Michael and our good friend Steve ran their first Mini Marathon this past weekend in Indy and did really well. It was cold and very windy but Dane and I had so much fun watching. It was pretty tough trying to find these guys in the 30,000 runners that ran with them but we managed to find them both at mile 2 and mile 12. I'm inspired by it all and can't wait to do one someday as well. Michael's already talking about doing a marathon possibly this year as well!
Michael, Dane and I are going on a 5 day cruise next week to the Bahamas! It was a last minute vacation that we decided to take a year early to celebrate our 5 year anniversary next year but with 2 kids and one being a new born, we thought it would be best to go early. We're excited about spending time as a family together, especially having Dane on our first family vacation with us. Staying at home with him full time has allowed me to understand how he ticks as far as naps, food and bed time, so I feel confident with the decision in bringing him along. We can't wait to watch him play in the sand and water in the Bahamas. We also bought a really great umbrella stroller in case he does go to bed at 8 at night so Michael and I will still be able to enjoy being out and about on the ship. We might even hit up a nice sit down dinner or show! I'm looking forward to catching up on some reading while sitting on the balcony of our room right off the water while Dane naps. It's also a freestyle cruise with meals so you can eat whenever you're hungry or even order room service. So excited!!!
The pregnancy is still going very well. I'm mostly tired but other than that I can't complain. I'm so glad I got to visit my girls in Warsaw this past week. I miss you guys so much! Have a great week!

Dane and I got to watch Michael run a 3.1 mile road race today in Logansport for the "Oh Baby Run" sponsored by the hospital foundation. He got 4th place overrall and 1st in his age group out of 200 + runners. Don't know how he does it but we are so proud of him! Dane and I had fun just hanging out and cheering. When Michael ran by he said, "Bye da bye da"...loves his daddy!

Michael and I are happy to announce that we will be having another baby in the first part of October. Unfortunately that is also opening deer hunting season so I've ruined my husband's hobby for the year...sorry! With Dane, I never took any pictures of my ever growing belly besides maternity pictures I had done at 34 weeks. I think I was a little self conscience about the way my body was changing but I'm going to learn to love this time in my life and look back at the pictures with amazement. I'm going to take them every other week though to show some differences. We are so excited about the possibility of a brother for Dane, or something new and exciting with a little girl. I've felt pretty good so far with the pregnancy. My nights are when I feel more sick and I'm continually tired, but that could also be from chasing after Dane. Thank you for those who have already given us well wishes.

They aren't the greatest pictures this week but just some fun things he's been up to! Dane is really listening well these days and understanding more and more. He loves to read and is constantly going in his room to search through his basket of books for one he wants to look at. He can point to a lot of things we're looking at in the books; frog, pig, dog, cat, banana, and more. I'll ask him to go get his coat and he'll run in his room, stand on his bench and take his coat off the hook and bring it to me. He can sign more, please, wave, hold our hands to pray and gives out kisses like a 13 year old girl. I'm not trying to brag through all of this but mostly have it down so I can remember it years to come! Michael just gave him a haircut so now they look ridiculously alike that it's scary. He's a VERY busy kid and thank God we have energy to keep up with him!

Wow! A lot of pictures this week but that should make up for other times I barely post any! It is sooooo the little things in life that can make you smile and appreciate life. Dane and I had our own little picnic today at the park to celebrate this warm weather. We had so much fun eating our peanut butter/pickle sandwiches, raisins and plums....this boy eats ANTHING! So blessed he's a wonderful eater. Than we went on to the swings and slides....such great times! Hopefully this blog will help remind me years down the road that it was the little things in life that made me so happy!

This is the first time since high school that I've been thrilled about all of the snow! Not having to drive on St. Rd. 25 with this weather has been a blessing! Dane and I have been enjoying going outside to play in the snow. He loves sitting in the big snow piles while I shovel the driveway. Michael came home early one day and even took us tubing. We had so much fun!

This morning I woke up and took the dogs outside and heard birds which means hopefully spring will be here soon! It's amazing how fast Dane can move these days. He started taking steps a few weeks before his birthday and now he is running everywhere! He loves it! We've been able to go outside and play a little in the snow these past few days with the warmer weather. It's hard for him to move though with a big heavy coat and boots on so we crawl through the snow a lot. Can't wait for summer when we can be in the pool everyday. This kid will be doing the backstroke by the end of summer!

Michael has officially been running everyday for 2 years now...actually since Jan 1st, 2008. I've seen him run in blizzard weather, pouring down rain and 90 degree heat. Amazing is all I can say. That's what you call discipline! I just finished my 6th week of P90X....6 more weeks and I'm ready for swimsuit season!!

What a wonderful Christmas we had! We are so blessed to have such generous families that spoiled all three of us. It was a busy and exciting weekend going back and forth for delicious meals and gifts from each side of the family. Thank you so much!

What a busy weekend! On Friday night Michael and I went out with some good friends for dinner while Dane played with his cousin Anderson. On Saturday, Michael and I had another fun dinner with a group of Michael's coworkers so Dane got to play with his Nana and D Bowditch. Last but not least, we had Michael's grandparents Christmas party. It's so much fun around the holidays with food and friends!

As a new mom, it's easy to get lost with the busy and exciting Christmas season. It's the first year we get to watch Dane open gifts and splurge on decorating inside and outside the house. It's hard not to focus sometimes on the true meaning of what this time of the year is really about! I got a card in the mail and just wanted to share it. A cute simple poem but it really made me start thinking about where my focus should be. Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season as much as we are!

This was quite a week in our house with being sick! Dane has been sick for over a week now with a runny nose and cough and Michael and I both ended up getting sore throats (with no voice) and a rough cough for half of the week. I didn't realize how hard it is being sick and trying to take care of a little one that's on the go! It seemed like when I was tired he was wide a wake and visa versa. We're all feeling a lot better though and hoping this is the last of it!

Dane is really moving these days. He's also saying or TRYING to say some words: duck, dog, cheese and drink. He gets most of it but knows what it is....very cool. It's just a neat thing to see your child learning new things every day!

Happy late Thanksgiving! We had a great Thursday with the Bowditch family. It started off by the 4 mile Turkey Trot run that we do each year as a family before we pig out all day! Michael and I both did really well. We both got third place in our age group. Michael placed 27th and I placed 69th out of 385 runners. He even pushed Dane in the stroller! I ran it in 31:01 ...7:45 miles, I was excited! We then went back to Michael's parents house and ate until we were stuffed... and then ate some more. What a great day!

Dane is moving so quick these days! He can climb a flight of stairs in less than 30 seconds and is pulling up on everything...including the wall. I'm thinking by Christmas he'll be walking...either way, each day is amazing to say the least!

Dane and I woke up to a dead Mr. Fish today so down the toilet he went! I think Dane was a little confused why I was putting the fish in the toilet since he was reaching for it...yeah yeah gross but I had just cleaned it! I put the fish bowl away...maybe we'll try it again another time!

Today I watched my little 2 1/2 year old nephew so the three of us with the warm November weather went all over town in the double stroller. We had fun playing at the park and then went to the library where they have a fort set up with a lot of toys to play with as well. Good times! Another fun place to go on a rainy day in the future. It's always fun figuring out little ideas like that since I'm not used to having two. Practice for the future when it happens someday!

I can't believe it's Thanksgiving week already! Crazy how time flies....There are so many things to be thankful for. This is the first year where I can truly feel blessed from the bottom of my heart with what I have in life. I feel very complete being a wife and mother.

Yesterday afternoon I walked into Dane's bedroom to check on him to see if he was up from his nap and found him standing in his crib with teeth marks all over the ledge of his crib....wow. His two front teeth are in and I'm sure he's getting some relief by just pushing on them with whatever he can find!

I took Lucy to the vet yesterday to have her looked at since she's been going down hill a little. She's lost 15 pounds recently and is continually chewing on her paws and tail. She also has yucky eyes. The vet gave us some allergy medicine for her. It seems as if she's aged 10 years when she's only 3 1/2. I don't take her on walks anymore because she walks incredibly slow with her bad hip so she walks around outside when Dane and I swing. I'm hoping she perks up and gets over whatever she has!

I'm not trying to brag but staying at home with Dane is so cool. Most people complain about their kids growing up too fast but I'm just happy I've gotten to see so much with him. He's crawling so fast EVERYWHERE and constantly babbling. We play hide and seek a million times a day and his new favorite thing is for me to build something out of blocks while he comes along and knocks it down. Everyday gets better and better! I do miss the social aspect of work and getting dressed up but I always look forward to Sunday just to put a dress and make up on for church. I never knew that life could be this amazing. We are truly blessed.
